My Testimony

"Show me Thy ways, O LORD; teach me Thy paths."

Psalm 25:4

Spectators have their place in every sport, but in the church, the call is for involvement in the work. Christianity is not a sport or a hobby to occupy your spare time; it is the difference between heaven and hell, the souls of men and the Glory of God. We cannot afford to stand on the sidelines; we are called to get involved.

The New Year always brings with it fresh challenges. This year the challenge I would bring to you, is to increase your involvement in the greatest mission on earth.

The chorus expresses this thought “Only one life it will soon be past,  only what’s done for Christ will last, Lord at Thy feet my all I cast, let me run well for Thee” Church is not a place to go but a life to live. We have many commitments and demands upon our time, the words of Jesus help us focus our priorities “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. (Luke 10:41 – 42)  It was a choice that Mary made; we have a choice as to what will be that main thing in our daily lives.

The Motto for 2006 challenges us to seek God to reveal to us the priority that He has chosen for our lives. If we are to know God’s leading we must be open to His guidance. I am reminded of the verse that has been such an encouragement to Violet and me over the past twelve years, “As for God, His way is perfect:” Psalm 18:30

How badly do you want God’s best in your life? There is always a cost involved in pursuing God’s best.

It is good to have routine and discipline in your life, but beware of the danger of things getting into a rut or just becoming a ritual. God is the God of variety. Diversity and individuality is revealed in all of His creation. Our relationship with God will be filled with unique situations and new challenges. God may have new “ways” for you to experience. Open your heart to Him let Him take you by the hand and face the future adventure together. Let God show you “His ways” and experience in a deeper way how much better it is to be involved, than to be a spectator.
